Smash a new PB with ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 24 (home of Canada’s running community and iRun magazine)

With spring training kicking off, he’s back to go out on a regular basis. As you build up your running schedule, you log a few extra miles. Even if there’s no goal race on the horizon, this time of year is definitely for rebuilding, so you can keep going the distance. Before heading out and hitting the trails, start off on the right foot with a new pair of shoes.

This season, ASICS GEL-NIMBUS 24 combines advanced technology, comfort and durability. In fact, the GEL-NIMBUS 24 are made for runners who hit the road 3 times a week, for around 10-20K in total. I may be going a little over the intended distance, there are many reasons why I still enjoy the ride.

First, it’s the noticeably lighter design. At 250g, it’s about 20g lighter than the GEL-NIMBUS 23 with a redesigned breathable upper that leaves you feeling light on your feet. For runners who value a faster feel in a neutral shoe, the GEL-NIMBUS 24 has the level of lightness that gives you the freedom to hit it. Runners will also appreciate the knit tongue construction that wraps comfortably around your foot. It’s a detail that your foot will thank you for with its noticeably flexible and non-binding support, even before you lace up.

When your feet hit the pavement, the FF Blast Plus kicks in and you’ll appreciate the extra midsole cushioning. For runners returning to training, the FF Blast Plus provides the right amount of comfort that lets you run longer without your feet and body feeling the effects later in the day. It’s the season to build towards that personal best and with the added cushioning you still get that same energized toe-off feel that is synonymous with the GEL-NIMBUS. It’s the extra little push you need when you’d otherwise like to close the distance. And with the launch of the GEL-NIMBUS Lite 3 earlier this month, you can lighten your load on the environment too. Using three organically sourced materials, this version of the Lite 3 has 75% more recycled materials used in its lightweight yet durable construction.

No matter what type of runner you are, consistency is key. It’s not about speed or distance, it’s about getting out there and doing it. With the unpredictability of weather and road conditions at this time of year, we all have weeks where it’s more, others less and of course there’s a long mixed race. When it comes to running with this season’s changes, the durability of your shoe is key. As light and comfortable as the GEL-NIMBUS is, it also has strength. With this shoe, the ASICS Lite outsole rubber is lighter but stronger than standard outsole materials. In the GEL-NIMBUS you will feel the ability to navigate and withstand the harshness of changing road conditions. Even when you encounter an unpaved path or two, you appreciate how the new construction handles resistance against the abrasive elements.

And while the colorway options won’t make you faster, there’s something to be said for that lacing feel in a hue that suits your running style. Whether it’s longer Sundays, working on your first marathon, or logging a few miles before work, the ASICS GEL-NIMBUS will help you get it all done smoothly.
