Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James Launches Shoes With The Aldo Band – Footwear News

Fashion label Draper James by Reese Witherspoon launches its first-ever shoe collection today. After rolling out a slipper collection in the fourth quarter, Draper James introduces a total of 37 new footwear pieces ranging from sandals, flats, kitten heels, espadrilles and evening sandals.

The shoes are available for purchase at Draper James stores and its website as well as Zappos and Nordstrom. Prices range between $85 and $140.

“We felt like we could really fill a blank space in the footwear industry the same way we did with our ready-to-wear and our jewelry and the other lifestyle categories” , said Kathryn Sukey, executive vice president of design at Draper James. . “All the signs pointed in the right direction towards the shoes.”

The decision to launch a shoe line came after Draper James saw success from previous shoe collaborations with other brands. In February, Draper James teamed up with Tretorn for a co-branded sneaker capsule of 5 styles. In March 2020, the brand teamed up with Keds on two low-top silhouettes in four different colorways, including magnolia flower print, navy gingham, carnation and chambray.

“We’ve seen very concrete results with each of our collaborations,” said Sukey, who added that the brand has generated strong interest in shoe deals from consumers via direct messages on social media and social media posts. search terms on the company’s website.

“We had a proof of concept and it gave us the courage to move forward,” Sukey said.

The line was created under license with Aldo Product Services (APS), which provides brands with resources and facilities to help launch new lines. Draper James oversaw the design aspects for the launch.

In addition to shoes, Draper James is also launching new handbag styles with a 16-piece collection, also through the Aldo Group partnership.

“We jumped at the chance to partner with Draper James to relaunch their footwear and handbags business,” said Erika Adderley, vice president of footwear and handbags product development and design for women at Aldo Group. “We have so much respect for Reese and our companies share a lot of the same core values. I think that’s part of the reason why our teams felt a strong synergy from the start.

While Aldo oversaw production of the shoe line, the shoes were designed by designers at Draper James. As such, the products feature thye-pop colors and prints – including florals, stripes, gingham and chambray – which are characteristic of the aesthetics of the feminine brand from the South.

With the shoes, Sukey explained, Draper James offers its consumers a “head-to-toe styling,” from hair accessories to shoes.

“When we have a particular fabric in the dress, she wants it in the headband,” Sukey said of consumer Draper James. “She will get a free jewel. She might even have the same complementary color in the bag. Being able to take the shoes away is just the icing on the cake.
