Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Relationship Timeline

From two close friends who went on a double date with other people to becoming parents of three children, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have made us believe in love again and again. And admit it or not, we all have a weak desire for a relationship like that. So let’s take a quick look at how it all started.

Their first meeting

The duo first met on the set of Warner Bros. movie “Green Lantern” in 2010 and began their journey with a platonic relationship. Blake and Ryan were both in a relationship with other people; Ryan married Black Widow star Scarlett Johnson, meanwhile Blake was dating Gossip Girls co-star Penn Badgely (both on and off screen.) But oObviously, fate has something else in store for them in the future.

In September 2010, Lively and Penn separated on good terms and decided to move on. After the year ended, Scarlett Johnson and Ryan Reynolds also filed for divorce with a joint statement, “After long and careful consideration on both sides, we have decided to end our marriage.” The reason for their separation is said to be their competitive personalities which seemed to clash. (Or so the Marvel star said.)

Blake suggested going out

While Lively and Reynolds developed a good relationship and it didn’t click them for a year and a half until they went on a double date together but (obviously) with different people.

And, not so surprisingly, Shallow star Blakely was the only one to suggest they should date, feeling the spark in their chemistry. “I’m like, Oh hey, wait! Wait. We could go out together,” Blake recalls her conversation with Ryan in an interview.

Although the couple tried to keep their relationship low-key, they got caught when Blake was spotted leaving her beau, Ryan Reynolds’ apartment early in the morning in Boston. A few months later, the couple were spotted together again (holding hands) vacationing in Reynolds’ hometown of Vancouver, Canada.

“Secret” wedding in Southern California

The couple were then frequently caught together on a casual stroll in New Orleans or a romantic boat ride in Venice.

Blake and Ryan leave no time to enjoy each other’s company. And There you go ! The sweet and witty duo struck the deal less than a year after they met and decided to get married (Because the good guys never wait…)

On September 9, 2012 (about a decade ago), Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married in the presence of their dearest friends and family members at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Blake’s sister Robin Lively recreated her 80s classic teenage witch dance at her wedding. The newlywed couple made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in New York in May 2014.

Announcing their firstborn

A few months later, Blake, 34, announced that they were expecting their firstborn in October 2014 via her website, Preserve, along with a photo of her showing off her baby bump.

After three months, the couple welcomed their first child, James, on December 16, 2014, who was born ahead of schedule, but fortunately in perfect health.

In February 2015, the couple made their first red carpet appearance together at a fan screening for Ryan’s dead Pool after becoming parents.

Blake’s second pregnancy rumors erupted when she was spotted on set of the 2016 film The lowlands, where her burgeoning baby bump was shown through her jumpsuit. The couple welcomed their second born, Inez, in September.

Ryan with his wife and two cuties at the Hollywood Wall of Fame

The family of four; Blake, her husband and two daughters, made their very first red carpet appearance to celebrate Deadpool’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in December 2016. Ryan didn’t miss the chance to credit his significant other and said : best thing, the best thing that ever happened to me after this star. You make everything better, absolutely everything in my life better.

Meanwhile, Reynolds’ proud wife shared a photo from the ceremony on Instagram, captioning a sweet message for him, “The permanence of your impact is undeniable… It always has been, but now we have want to show it.”

Taylor featured their daughter’s name on her 2020 album

In May 2019, the elated duo revealed they were expecting their third child while attending the premiere of Reynolds’ film. Pokemon Detective Pikachu. Their third baby joined the family in the summer. Although the action movie Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard The star shared the news in a Twitter post two months later, revealing that their third baby was also a girl.

Ryan’s close friend, Taylor Swift was the one who first shared their daughter’s name, Betty, via her folk album. The “Shake It Off” singer confirmed that she named all of the characters in this story after my friends’ children, which also included their eldest daughters James and Inez.

In July 2021, the couple returned to the restaurant, where they had their first date, to celebrate their 10 years together. The Lady Killer star wrote on Instagram: “10 years later. We always go out on our “first date”. But in much more comfortable shoes. If it wasn’t for this place. We wouldn’t be together. No kidding. No restaurant means more.

And we didn’t agree anymore. Thanks to the “other people” on their first double date, with whom they shared no fireworks but awkwardness (as Reynold put it) and even the DC Green Lantern, who was the total mess at the box office but that had our one of Hollywood’s favorite couple together.

Their last appearance

As time goes by, their love for each other only grows deeper every day. On Feb. 28, 2022, the pair made their final appearance together at the New York premiere of Reynolds’ film The Adam Project, where the cozy couple slipped in a kiss before heading to the red carpet.

The duo actively raised awareness of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine through their social media platform and contributed $1 million in aid.
